Introduction

Breast surgery, often called breast design or breast reshaping, is a procedure that adjusts the size, shape, or position of the breasts to better match your body and aesthetic goals. It can lift sagging breasts, increase or reduce volume, correct asymmetry, or refine the overall contour. In some cases, it can also improve comfort by reducing strain on the neck, back, or shoulders.

Procedure

Breast surgery is usually done under general anesthesia. Small, carefully planned incisions are made in natural folds of the breast or around the areola to keep scars as discreet as possible. Through these openings, breast tissue, skin, and sometimes implants are adjusted or added/removed to create the desired shape. The goal is to achieve natural-looking, harmonious breasts that fit your body proportions. At the end of the procedure, the incisions are closed with fine sutures and the breasts are supported with a special bra or dressing.

Aftercare & Recovery

After surgery, you can expect some swelling, bruising, and a feeling of tightness or pressure in the chest area. These are normal and usually improve within 1–2 weeks. You’ll need to wear a supportive bra, avoid lifting and strenuous activity, and follow your surgeon’s instructions about wound care, medication, and sleeping position. Most patients return to light daily activities after about a week, but full healing and the final breast shape can take several months. Follow-up visits are important to make sure your recovery and results are on track.
