Nose Surgery Tailored to Your Face
Introduction
Nose surgery, also called rhinoplasty, is a procedure that reshapes the nose to improve its appearance, function, or both. It can refine the bridge or tip, correct a hump, narrow the nostrils, or straighten a crooked nose. In some cases, it also helps you breathe better by correcting internal structures.
The Procedure
Nose surgery is usually done under general anesthesia. Small incisions are made inside the nose, and sometimes a tiny incision is made across the columella (the strip of skin between the nostrils). Through these openings, the bone and cartilage are carefully reshaped. The goal is to create a natural-looking nose that fits your facial features. At the end of the procedure, the incisions are closed and a small splint is placed on the nose to support its new shape.
Aftercare & Recovery
After surgery, you can expect some swelling, bruising around the eyes, and a feeling of congestion. These are normal and usually improve within 1–2 weeks. You’ll need to keep your head elevated, avoid blowing your nose, and follow your surgeon’s instructions about cold compresses and medication. Most patients return to light daily activities after about a week, but full healing and the final shape of the nose can take several months. Follow-up visits are important to make sure your recovery is on track.
